ALWAYS MORE - ellen vingren
A song about how some dreams and expectations can be so strong that they crush you. And sometimes even break the hearts of people around you./ellen Well isn´t this the place? I´ve seen these trees before. We have been and by the look on your face I can tell you want more. Yes, I took you here about a year ago. It was snowing hard and by the sound of your voice I could tell you hoped for more Always more. Never enough. You have this hunger that never makes you pleased. Always more. Never enough. You have this hunger that always makes me bleed. Always more. Never enough. Yes, I took you here. To my favourite place. The sun was shining on your disapointed face. Yes this is the place. We´ve been here before. We have been here and by the look on your face I can tell you want more CARRIED BY THE RIVER - emanuel sandgren
After a long and intimate conversation in the car with a friend the idea for this song came up. I was listening to his life story of such great hope and a daily surrender. Using my loop machine for the first time I started to create a soundscape from what I had heard. /emanuel The darker the night, the stronger the hope The harder the fight, the closer it comes The colder the night, the warmer the arms The darker the sight, the brighter the stars He fell into the river, overwhelmed by water Taken by the water, carried by the river DAUGHTERS - emanuel sandgren
This is an easter song. To cry over a wounded heart and to rejoice over its healing. /emanuel This was the day the moon was painted red Waiting for the night, blood on the ground This was the day the moon took the sun Waiting for the prayer, blood on the ground No birds were flying high words in their way (They)Still sing their hymn, the hymn for this day This was the day blood and moon the same Waiting on the last breath, blood on the ground Jerusalem, tell your daughters tell your sons, not to cry. Jerusalem, tell your daughters tell your sons, not to cry, Right here, right now, a hand found round yours Salvation oh salvation heart opened doors I ONCE HAD A GUN - ellen vingren
I started recording strings, harmonies and a trumpet using just my voice. A year later it was a song about how an end sometimes isn´t so much an end as it is a new beginning. /ellen I once had a plan. I once had a plan, once had it all figured out. I once had a plan, I once had a plan and I was all bright, all smart, all wise, all clear in my mind. I once had it all figured out but that was then and now is now. I once had a gun. I once had a gun i would bring it along to defend my sweet dreams i once had a gun, i once had i gun and i was so strong, so smart, so tall, so clear in my mind Then there was you. You were my fall And my saving grace |
HORIZON LIGHT - emanuel sandgren
The first lines of this song came up on a early bird bus ride one dark winter morning. The faces on that bus, those eyes, were like a mirror of my own soul that day, at that time. We could choose light. Because light has won. /emanuel Empty eyes hungry hearts. (We’re) All in this place. Quiet mouths screaming souls. (We) Long to see your face Could it be You’ll come tonight? If You do please hold us tight? Is it you horizonlight? Come soon shine bright? Hard to breathe a constant pain Is there a field for rest? Ears filled with sounds All word’s said and done. Can we lean upon your chest? MATTER OF THE HEART - ellen vingren
The first line of this song appeared one tuesday at communion. I may be broken but I´m part of a family that believes there´s hope for the hopeless and that some truths are empty if the´re not understood with the heart: You are loved. (The "very first version" of this song on the album is from that specific tuesday) /ellen I’m a broken piece of broken bread. I am broken and I toss and turn my head. I still think I´m smart but understanding seems to be a matter of the heart, understanding seems to be a matter of the heart. A matter of the heart. A matter of the heart I’m tossing and I´m turning but the fire is still burning I can´t put it out I’m a broken piece of broken bread. I am broken and defend the lies I let into my bed. I think I'm smart but understanding seems to be a matter of the heart, understanding seems to be a matter of the heart. PEACE AND QUIET - ellen vingren
Years ago I had a colleague who told me her family stopped asking her about her life after she told them she was gay. She told me she'd made an active choice to not follow their example, to keep loving them. /ellen Have you been struggling since day two with this? Have you been struggling this long? Have you been struggling since they told you, you are wrong? Have you been fighting since day two with this? Have you been fighting this long? Have you been fighting since they told you, you are wrong? Have you been promised since day one only love, unconditionally strong. The night came, love changed, now they tell you, you are wrong Will there ever be peace? Will there ever be peace, will there ever be peace and quiet around you? Tell your story from the roof. Tell them that you love them. Tell your story from the roof. Tell your story from the roof. Tell them that you love them. Love separates the lies from the truth SONGS UNHEARD - emanuel sandgren
I was sitting outside a shopping mall waiting for a friend just seeing people pass by. I tried to see beyond all those visible things and again I realised that we are all so similar. Carrying the same war inside just in different shapes. /emanuel Rich men, poor men walking side by side. Rich men, poor men both have war inside... Rich men, poor men same street diffrent sides. Rich men, poor men carry their bag so tight... If we stretch out our hand We will find an empty hand. If we Listen to the songs So many songs unheard. Rich men poor men living side by side. Rich men, poor men both have war inside... Rich men, poor men meeting every day. Rich men, poor men never heard their names |
SILENT HARBOR - emanuel sandgren
I was born close to the ocean and today I live even closer. I love it. I need it. The power of the waves, the greatness of the ocean is a reminder of who holds it. The Holder is peace. /emanuel Sometimes the ocean is too wide. Sometimes the ocean is too deep. Sometimes the storm is just beneath. Sometimes the waves are too wild. I can see light. I can see light You’re the eye in the storm a safe place to hide. The guide in the night, a light that shines so bright. Will it reach me even in this darkened night? Will your lighthouse lead me from stormy ocean into your silent harbor? Sometimes the wind dosen’t blow. Sometimes the waves never go low. I can see light in the horizon. Sometimes the ocean is too wide. Sometimes the ocean is too deep. Sometimes the storm is just beneath. Sometimes the waves are too wild. I can see light. I can see light. THE SKY - ellen vingren
I sat on the tram, thinking of a friend who had just told me she was loosing faith. Seeing the blue sky, I started humming on the chorus. When I came home I sat down and played the whole song, as if I'd heard it before and someone else wrote it before me /ellen You´re running out of faith. You´re running out of efforts anyhow. The feeling that you had of freedom just seems to mock you now. The key around your neck gets heavier by every day that brakes. The doors it led you through seemed countless. Now, closure is all you want. And the sky has never been this blue. The sky has never called out for you. The sky has never been this blue. The sky has never called out this loud for you. WHERE IS YOUR HEART - ellen vingren
I can't count the times I have screwed up, or hurt people. One of those times I was reminded of Peter. He betrayed the one he loved the most. But what mattered in the end wasn't what he did or didn't do but where he had his heart. /ellen Have you ever, ever heard of a bird with a loss for words. Have you ever, ever heard of a bird with no song to sing. And it all comes down to: Where is your heart? Have you ever, ever heard of a road that leads you right on home? Oh, this road I carry deep down like the bird carries her sweet song. And it all comes down to: Where is your heart? The first time that I heard His voice, the first time that it hit me, oh, it hit me hard. The first time it left me off guard. And it all comes down to this: Where is your heart? WE ALREADY GOT IT - emanuel sandgren
After reading a book about church bells I coudnt resist writing a song from what I´ve read. A song about where I think we all come from and what we have inside of us. /emanuel We already got it. We all got an hymn an anthem inside. A tone from another world another land. We already got it Some of us sing it out some of us cry it out. We already got it We already got it. We all got an hymn an anthem inside. Heaven left a piece, a piece in you. We already got it. We already got it. We all got an hymn an anthem inside |
